H.P. stands for Happy Psyclists

s1174775199_310838_8258.jpgFriday night I drove (yes drove) to see my friends Chris and Traci. We drank. A lot. I sucked down a Allagash Black (yummy) which did me good. I promptly washed that down with some Hop Back. In between killing aliens, during Halo 3, we sparked ’til 3am. All of this a… good receipy for waking up at 7:30am to drive 55minutes home for riding at good ol’ H.P.

Woke up and totally forgot were I was. It was a bit concerning. Then realized I was in their apartment and it was time to get up to drive home. I’ll be honest…I may have been still a bit buzzed from the nights activities. Nothing a good ol’ Sauge, Egg, and Cheese from DD couldn’t help. Plus an extra strong iced coffee. The drive was fine no issues but seemed like I couldn’t get on the bike soon enough.

So after some fog and some more coffee I headed to H.P. I thought I was gonna be late but I was first there. The hangovah was catching up to me. I shot a GU and swigged some water. Mary might have helped a bit more too.

The miskerters wer fuckin’ huge. Damn vultures.  Besides those jerks, we had an amazing ride. A bit slick to keep it interesting. But mostly the conditions were just right. I could have gone on for hours. Damn responsibilities got in the way. To much to do.

Hopefully next saturday will be as fulfilling.

That pic isn’t H.P. That is “Da Summit”

Mudbutter and Jelly

With out hesitation this morning I got my Opie ready to ride some dirty dirty. Que the barrage of emails and comments about mud season. Well screw you! You know why I can say that, because I maintain more miles of trails than anyone that might read this. Except for Ken he does a ton with me. Anything that I might damage will be fixed before you even see it.

It was rainy when I left,  but damn it felt better than snowflakes falling on me.  I had a huge smile on my face even though it was a tough ride. My buddy ML hooked it up so I was a bit more relaxed during my ride…which made it way more fun and worth it. Thanks Broham! By the time I had gotten to work the rain and puddles washed away most of the mud that had caked in between my rear tire, seat tube, and all over me.

This day of ATB riding made me think of my big plans for this coming year. Here are 10 expected things that WILL happen. These are only a taste of things to come. They are listed at random:

1.  Ride my bikes a lot.

2. Eat lots of healthy delicious food.

3. Do a shit load of camping and outdoor activities.

4. Go bigger and faster.

5. Build some sick shit at Da Summit.

6. Drink some really good beer. Beer is my Gu! Drink responsibly on the trails you could get hurt.

7. Ride my bikes alot …wait did I say that already.

8. Travel to riding spots I have never been before and have wanted too for many years (Kingdom Trails, Oregon, all of Canada, and so many more).

9. Build some bike stuff…including a trail building trailer, some parts that involve extra activities, a lounge chair out of bike parts, and some other interesting things that arein my skull that will benefit all who ride. I’m gonna be rich biotch!

10. Ummmm ride!

I have some many other things that I want to cram, shove, and compress into 2009. Some things are on the “is it really time” list. These thing I have planned for some time now. But looking at money, family, and my own personal goals they may not happen.

I can tell you this. There will be a fuck load of riding, drinking, writing, and enjoying the fuck out of my amazing life. I am sooo privildged to have the career that I have, to have the friends I have and have the family that I have. My bike quiver is never as full as I would like but shit I can’t complain with the wonderful rides that I have been blessed with. They treat me well so I treat them well back. Like it should be.

Rippin’ berms and smoking worms…that is what I am ready for! Watch out dirt I got my fuckin’ eye on you!

Numb Face

Posted in Rides on November 21st, 2008

ryan-knolly21.JPGHello all,

This past week has been a series of events that have brought me down a bit. First I have some issues with my trusty MTB bike that I gave birth two early this year. She is a Knolly Delirium T that I call Bessie. She is a beaut’ and has not given any issues. Really the problems that I had on our Tuesday night ride are not her fault (Derailleur munched, hanger bent, wheel untrue, and eventually the chain broke).  But I can’t help but wonder what I may have done to her that she may have helped these problems arise. On top of the mechanical issues I smashed my left shoulder into a tree and smacked my knee. Then, the next day, when trying to get ready to go for a ride on a demo bike that I came across, I found a crack on that. Ehh! Not my week with bikes I guess.

Then…trying to help a guy at the gas station that needed a jump my battery died…crazy right? So I have sworn off motor vehicles for a while. Just not gonna drive right now. Brave the winter on the 2 wheeled wonders that beg me to ride them every morning.

Maybe I will reach the state of cycling Zen that I have been trying to reach for the last 27 years of my life. Finding a new pocket of zest in my brain that I haven’t touched yet. I am sure drugs and alcohol will help with that right? Maybe not…some cleaner living and better eating will suffice. I am ripe with a motivation that I have never had…it might as well get used. You all should Join me. Get your winter gear out…jump on what ever bike you feel is proper that day and ride your ass off. Enjoy life on bikes!
